Short Biographies of our Instructors

Alexander Reeb, M.A.
Course of studies in cultural anthropology, law (with a focus on criminal law), and economic and social psychology (international management), with an M.A. in social sciences.
Mr. Reeb has worked with IKUD from early 2001 to 2007 and is involved with the conception and implementation of intercultural education modules. Mr. Reeb has been the executive officer of IKUD-Seminare since 2006.
Research concentrations: Diversity management, development of intercultural organizations, and intercultural education.
Currently, Mr. Reeb is involved with the integration of Russian speaking academics through the Otto Benecke Foundation (Registered Association) in Bonn. Additionally he is an associate lecturer at the Institute for Communication Management with the FH in Lingen.

Jiri Burgerstein M.A.
Course of studies in Slavic philology, German language and literature, and communication at the Georg-August University in Göttingen; years of experience working with migration, integration, DaF (German as a foreign language), and translation (licensed translator in Czech and Slovak), with publications on DaF and the Czech Republic (through the Becksche Länderreihe Press).
Mr. Burgerstein has worked with IKUD since 1994, but he also applies his experience to a variety of other projects: he leads an integration course for returned settlers from former German settlements (Aussiedler) at the Border Repatriation Facility in Friedland (in conjunction with the Department of Interior of Lower Saxony), has a university teaching position at Göttingen University (Intercultural German Studies), and instructs so-called network courses with the Goethe Institute in countries of the former Soviet Union, especially in central Asia (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Tadzhikistan, and Kyrgyzstan).

Judith Reeb M.A.
Studied pedagogy (focus: adult education), Indology, and comparative studies as well as postgraduate studies in German as a Foreign Language at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität, Mainz.
During her entire studies, Judith Reeb focused on intercultural communication and transculturalism. Several research trips to southeast and eastern Asia, especially India and Japan. Her scope of work is e.g. development of intercultural competence for the multinational management and country specific trainings for India.
Areas of expertise: Conception of intercultural trainings, intercultural encounters Germany/ India and Indian language, literature and culture.
Additionally, Judith Reeb currently works on her dissertation project on intercultural issues in Indology.

Ruth Zinner M.A., Präventionsfachkraft
Studies at Georg-August-Universität in German and British English, and pedagogy.
Ruth Zinner is co-author of the study "On the Schooling Situation of Immigrated Children and Teenagers."
Additionally, since 1989 Ruth Zinner had been qualified lecturer for Germans as a foreign language and has led courses at several educational institutions. Within the framework of prevention, she dealt with the conception of a project on behalf of the German Ministry of Education, organized events in this field, and conducted training for specialists of health insurance companies.
Extensive professional experience in the area of migration and integration: Lecturer on issues of Sinti/ Roma at Association for endangered people, teacher at refugee home, director of project "Prevention and Integration in Schools".
Worked several years in adult education, e.g. lecturer at universities on "schooling situation of immigrated children and teenagers", talks on migration, chairing of „Workshops of the Future" (Zukunftswerkstätten).

Dr. Natalia Hefele
Ms. Hefele holds a doctorate in history, and is an intercultural trainer and consultant. She completed both her graduate and doctoral studies at Tomsk University; until 2000 she was also an instructor there. Ms. Hefele has lived and worked in Göttingen since 2000 and has many years of experience with intercultural research projects, social work, and in consulting migrants. At IKUD, Ms. Hefele is active in the development and implementation of intercultural training on the following topics: intercultural openness in the community, intercultural methods, and country specific issues.
Research interests: Russian and German history in the 20th Century, issues of identity during the migration process, integration, intercultural communication, and intercultural competence.
Among other projects, Ms. Hefele is currently involved in the integration of Russian speaking academics through Otto Benecke Foundation (Registered Association) in Bonn.
